Create a blank document

  1. Open Word. Or, if Word is already open, select File > New.

  2. Select Blank document.

Create a document using a template

  1. Open Word. Or, if Word is already open, select File > New.

    A list of available Word templates is shown.

Save your document

  1. Click FILE > Save, pick or browse to a folder, type a name for your document in the File name box, and click Save.

  2. Save your work as you go - hit Ctrl+S (Keyboard Shortcut key) often.
